softball?

i was asked to be on a softball team for the summer for my karaoke  bar.  hmm…that could be fun, even though i have never played softball or baseball in my life.  i could be the humor relief..?   we’ll see if they really want  me then!

it’s official!  i finally bought a digital slr canon!!!!  holy crap am i excited!!!

tree time

so…a couple years ago a family at my home church in iowa gave my parents their gorgeous prelit christmas tree to give to me for my apartment…they were moving…and just thought they’d buy a new one when they moved???  well…yay for me i got their beautiful discarded one! : ) BUT – my new townhouse didn’t have a good spot for it..bummer.  soooo……..i went out and got a REAL christmas tree!!!!  a frasier fir no less!!!! : )  i felt like such an independent woman!  i got in my car, drove for 45 minutes and found a spot where they sell trees, picked one out, paid for it, put it in my car, spent 45 minutes trying to put it up, got it up, stringed it with two strands of lights, put up decorations, and topped it with my favorite gold star.  and i love it.  hmmm.  it makes me wanna wrap up in a blanket with a cup of coacoa and watch some christmas classics or listen to carols.   : )

noc noc – who’s there?

if you didn’t know, “noc” is medical jargin for “night.”  like nocturnal…get it??  well…i am nocturnal now.  thursday-sunday of nocturnal.  4 12hr noc shifts in a row.  yum.  once i get past that first one they’re not so bad i guess.  especially now since there are some kids in the picu.  but my body is like…what are you doing????  stay awake from 7pm to 7:30am when i mosey on home and crawl in bed at 8am.  sleep.  wake up and go to work again.  i don’t usually see the sun except for my drive home in the morn.  i really honestly have nothing to say so i’m just blagging about shift work.  ok.  done now.  : )

sex and the city

i just finished watching sex and the city the movie.  i bought the movie a month ago before i had even seen it.  i watched it and sobbed through the whole thing.  it’s an absolutely amazing movie.  i love that show.  carrie bradshaw is an amazing woman and i wish she was real and i could meet her!  i just finished watching the movie again, and guess what i just did…it just finished and i just started it over to watch a second time in a row.  it makes me want to move to new york city.  i wish i could.  but i can’t.  but i wish i could. her life is gamorous..yes…but it is also very real.  ah.  i want to meet carrie bradshaw.

small talk.

i’ve decided i hate small talk.  it drives me insane.  if there’s nothing to talk about..don’t fight to make something to  talk about.  why would you start a conversation with a perfect stranger that consists of absolutely nothing but hi’s and dumb awkwardness when you will never see them again and the conversation only lasted 25 seconds?  it makes absolutely no sense.  it’s awkward and stupid and i hate it.  on the phone.  in an elevator.  at work.  it all sucks.  most days i have nothing to say to my coworkers.  especially at night when i’m flippin tired and crabby.  why talk about the weather?  hmm? i hate small talk.

anxiety..

do you know what anxiety feels like?  well i do.  and boy did i get myself a helping of it tonight. 

i’m working a night shift in the pediatric intensive care unit (picu).  there’s this young girl, dev. delayed, and she has a nose bleed.  i’m in helping her nurse try and control the situation and then i hear it.  it makes me cringe and my spine shutter.   i asked…”she’s grinding her teeth” my coworker tells me.  WHAT? that’s what that horrific noise is?  this little girl can grind her teeth to such an extreme it makes me cringe from my toes to my ears.  every time she does it i feel like my insides are going to explode. 

so that was fun.

house of color

i just spent this weekend with my parents getting high off of paint fumes!  friday and saturday were plum full of transforming my new townhouse.  i just moved in not too long ago.  maybe 3 weeks now?  and it was alllllll WHITE.  how boring.  well there was a nasty border in the dining room/kitchen which was the first to go!  i wish i would have taken before pictures…but i was too excited to get to the after part…i just forgot.  well anyhoo – it’s done!  the main level is completely decorated and i absolutely love it!  pictures are on facebook so go take a look!  or…you should just come visit me and see for yourself!

are you alergic to latex?

so i’ve been giving flu shots for a clinic in town like EVERY day…at least days i’m not working at the hospital…but even some days i work at the hospital too.  it’s wearing me out.  i’ve been working 12 hour night shifts and give flu shots before i go to work.  i’m getting pooped out.  i haven’t been able to keep my place clean and picked up…which drives me bonkers.  blah.  or if i do have a little time i’m too pooped to have any desire to do anything.  and poor romeo.  he’s so lonely!  i’m either working or sleeping.  i think he’s getting lonely!  i don’t like night shifts.  blah on them too.   but…i’m almost done with all the flu shot clinics.  so that’s good.  and an extra paycheck is always nice!  i’m hoping to buy the Canon 40D with it!!!  wahoo!  : )
